Research Study on SME Finance & Lending in Pakistan

 

Research, Regulatory Insight & Advocacy Assistance for SMEs (RRI&A), a project of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), in partnership with Lahore School of Economics (LSE), University of Chicago (UChicago) and Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) is conducting a research study on “SME Finance and Lending” in Pakistan. This research study intends to investigate:

  • Reasons of low up-take of formal bank loans among the SMEs.
  • SMEs capabilities of fulfilling formal loan procedures and processes.
  • Determinants of informal or formal screening by loan officers.
  • How to improve SME-bank interactions through better assistance and advocacy in formal lending.

Backed by the University of Chicago’s expertise, this initiative aims to understand the key dynamic of SMEs access to finance in Pakistan.
