Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterates the government’s unwavering commitment to the growth and empowerment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan.

Presiding over a meeting of the Steering Committee for SME development, he underscored the pivotal role of SMEs as the engine of inclusive economic growth, innovation, and job creation. “Empowering them means empowering Pakistan,” the prime minister emphasized.

Highlighting the government’s strategic focus, he said SME development remains among the top priorities of his administration. “We are implementing reforms and initiatives on a fast-track basis to support this critical sector,” he added.

Several major developments, including outsourcing the development of a credit scoring model to enhance SMEs’ access to finance, strategic planning to boost SME exports and strengthen global competitiveness, and launching a national survey in collaboration with the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics to assess performance across 20 key economic sectors, were reviewed during the meeting.
